Call for Entries - Juried Photography Exhibition

Awards

All photographs selected will become part of a semi-permanent exhibit in the Appel Art Gallery at the Katz JCC. Photographs will be made available for purchase. An opening reception will be held on Thursday, May 6, 2010 at 7:00pm open and free to the entire community.

Entry Requirements

First Category - Present Day photos

Photographers of all ages and levels are invited to submit up to three photos created within the last three years, for consideration. Photos must meet the criteria of the theme: Jewish Life in Southern New Jersey. Photos can include celebratory events, holidays, community events, daily life of Jewish citizens such as children in day schools or seniors utilizing Jewish agency programs, or Jewish business and synagogues. Individuals may include a story of no more than 50 words with their photographs if so desired.

Second Category - Historical photos

All individuals are invited to submit historical photos from Jewish Life in Southern New Jersey which showcases photos of individuals at celebratory events, holidays, community events, daily life of Jewish citizens such as children in day schools or seniors utilizing Jewish agency programs, or Jewish business and synagogues. Individuals may include a story of no more than 200 words with their photographs if so desired.

Size restrictions and Framing

  • All photographic formats (including traditional and digital) are permitted, please specify process on the entry form.
  • All prints must be framed with glass or plexiglass, wired and ready for hanging. No clip frames. Improperly framed pieces will be rejected. If an individuals digital image is selected, it will need to be framed prior to the exhibit.
  • Frame size must be 8" x 10" or larger but no larger that 30" x 50".
  • Weight is not to exceed 30 lbs.
  • Maximum of three photo submissions.
  • This is a juried exhibit, NOT all work submitted will be hung.
  • All photographs are available for sale; 25% commission applies.

April 7 - April 15, 2010 between 9:00am - 5:00pm

Pick-Up

You will be notified of acceptance by email. If you do not have an email address, please include a SASE with your entry.

  • If your artwork is not selected to hang, please pick it up on Thursday, April 29, between 12:00pm - 5:00pm.
  • If your artwork is selected to hang in the exhibit, it will stay in the Appel Art Gallery for an indefinite amount of time and will be the property of the Katz JCC during the exhibit period.
